Hoosband had a 1976 2002 from the early-mid 1980s.

BMW orange. We loved that car except he put it in the creek once. Tow truck driver pulled it out and told him to start it up. He thought the guy was crazy, but got in and it started right up and he drove it home. No dents. The only clue was the headlamps were half filled with water.

A few months after that, in the middle of the night, someone stole the seats, along with some knobs and buttons out of the car. Left his wallet, which he had dropped under the seat, sitting on the floor boards. It's like they had a laundry list. He was bummed, but always said the joke was on the person they stole them for since they had been under water in the creek and the foam was probably rotting anyway. Insurance paid for new seats, knobs etc so he drove it for a few more years until he bought a new 325e in about 1986 or 7. Had that one for 13 -14 years until he decided to try Mercedes and bought that piece of crap ML450.
